Diddy And Jay-Z Want You To Vote... And So Does Some Other Guy

You know, we spend so much time on this site raking poor Sarah Palin over the coals that we occasionally forget to do our civic duty and encourage people to vote.
But why listen to NCDSUV when you can take inspiration from Diddy, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige and some dude named Kevin Liles? (Okay, he's actually a big record exec, but seeing his name kind of lacks the same cachet, no?)
You can imagine my surprise when, right in my very own inbox this morning, there was an "Open Letter" from the four entertainers/moguls (I keep telling celebrities to stop opening my mail, but que sera), reminding me that, "If you have not registered to vote, you are disrespecting everyone that sacrificed their lives for you to have the right. You are also disrespecting your future. The time is NOW for us to use the voices with which God has blessed us."
Easy for you to say, Grammy-winning vocalist Mary J. Blige. The only voice God blessed me with was one akin to the sound of a '70s game show host.
But regardless, said letter went on to invoke Barack Obama's decree that "Eight Is Enough." Which led me to ponder that while conservatives have made some curious pop-culture choices as rallying points (Ronald Reagan's attempt to co-opt "Born In The U.S.A." comes to mind), the Dems might be in big trouble this November if we're staking our success to the motivational reference of a late '70s sitcom starring Dick Van Patten and Willie Aames.
Anyway, thank you, Diddy, Jay, Mary and other record exec guy, for taking the time out of your day to write little ol' me, Kenny Herzog, to instill the fear of God should I stay away from the polls. You are all special people.

I don't like think everyone should vote. Voting for the sole purpose of "not wasting you vote" is just as bad. I just don't like the idea of my vote having the same weight as someone who spends most of their time drunk, and has never read a newspaper.
