Viral Superstar Of The Day: Eric Elvis

Yes, yes, I know. In an era of Microsoft-funded webisodes with Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates, we're way beyond the innocence of amateur viral YouTube stars like the Star Wars Kid or the "Numa Numa" guy, or any other hermetic overweight teenage boy who escapes into a fantasy land of sci-fi and techno.

But then there's Eric Elvis. A relative unknown in the landscape of self-made online auteurs (discounting his relatives, who comment quite fervently on his YouTube vids), a performer whose raw, Neil Young-circa-Rust Never Sleeps sexuality mixes in with a bit of boozy late-Elvis swagger and an affinity for classic-rock radio to conspire for one unprecedentedly watchable package. Although fittingly, like his presumed hero Presley, the above clip cuts off before his actual package, denying us the true visceral power of this unique and untapped talent.

Eric, the same offer that I extended to Chris Williams, aka Krazee-Eyez Killa, applies to you as well. Should you want to tell the world your story, NCSDSUV's casa es su casa, a place where, no matter how on-point your rendition of "Waiting For A Girl Like You," you never have to feel like a foreigner.

Click here for a full rundown of Eric Elvis' karaoke classic ("Lady In Red" and "Born To Run" are some of our other favorites).

P.S.--If you're generally a fan of such randomness, particularly when it's derived from an unsettling lack of context, pay a visit here.
